The Youth Shelter Program of Westchester (YSPW) offers a unique sensible and cost-effective alternative to incarceration to Westchester County's youth offenders who are charged with offenses in the County's criminal courts.
The youth, most of whom are first or second time offenders charged with non-violent crimes, are remanded to the Shelter by their presiding judge. If the youth is determined to be appropriate for the program he is then transferred out of jail and into the residential facility located in lower Westchester County.
Utilizing principles of positive youth development and trauma informed treatment, youth recieve care in a compassonate and non-judgemental environment conducive to learning, growing and changing their behavior.
The YSPW has been serving youth for over 30 years and has a vision of expanding the residential program to include young women and enhancing the re-entry program, which provides intensive support during the re-entry process.
The Youth Shelter Program of Westchester Builds Brighter Futures and Safer Communities ...One Saved Youth at a Time.
