One problem- you're assuming that they want to be productive citizens. This is the land of opportunity. Those who can't help themselves have resources. Those who can also have resources. Stop and think about how many don't help themselves when they are perfectly capable of doing so.

Elmendorf was referring to short run costs. I was talking long term. As for poll numbers, I am not worried. Ppl expect everything to be ok and that obama has a magic wand. But i will gauruntee that a year from now things will be better. Most of the stimulus funds would be distributed by 2010.
