These poeple diserve every credit, therefor one more time the end credits of the 1984 Series "The Tripods".
This was x-Files, Lord of the rings and "1984" perfectly fusioned together.Even today the awesome soundtrack by Ken Freeman drives a shiver down my spine.

This was my first contact with SciFi, a low low cost production from the BBC and Australias 7th Network. I was 10 years old the first time i saw this and i was addicted. Allthough everything had to be made cheap, what this team lacked on money they compensated with creativity and supurb acting. The story never got completed, it ended dramaticly and was taken down after Season 2.
BTW: If anybody of the people in power can help get a hold of the 2. Season DVD which was only produced in a 1000 limited edition, that would be awesome!

  • I remember this show, I watched it as a kid and loved every episode. And yeah, like most people, I think it's a shame the show was never finished.

I just finished the mind-blowing effort of watching every single episode of the show from YouTube, been doing this since yesterday. Brought back so many memories. To whomever who uploads episodes and fan films here: Awesome, thx !!

  • Damn you BBC for not making a third season to close the series!!!! You left a lot of us fans hanging!! Damn you!!!! Damn you all to hell!!!!!!

  • @scidriver

It was cancelled by the same asshole who cancelled Dr who.

  • Why the fuck was this on my recommondations list? Some bullshit!!! I wasnt even born 93!!!

  • @KaitainCPS Fucking spooky!

  • Random trivia fact: the birth of Prince Harry was announced on the BBC during the screening of the opening episode of this series (September 15th 1984). I remember a text box popping up on the screen with the announcement halfway through the episode.

  • @drschnaggels awesome series ... watched it in back in 1988 in Germany :-) , awesome intro and ending theme !

  • They never aired this show on my local PBS, but I caught AN episode once while visiting family in NC. I then spent the next 20+ years looking for it! I went out and found the books (which were out-of-print) so I could at least get the story! Thanks!

Also, I agree that the more modest budgets seem to inspire a greater emphasis on story & performance. In the US, there is a tendancy to simply 'throw money at the screen' & phone-in the script and direction. Mabey some day they'll offer both!
