Time magazine has named ISU alumna Jill Bolte Taylor to its 2008 list of the most influential people in the world. Taylor, who recovered from a stroke, was recognized for educating others about brain injuries and research into mental illness.

  • @KarthikSoun Very interesting. So your self image without the critical mind was, in a sense, so good you couldn't take it? I, as a hobby, study mystical experience. Was there a trigger for your experience at all? Dr. Taylor is basically studying mystical exp the way psychology generally studies things in the brain, through finding cases of damage to specific areas and seeing what happens.

    Matter of fact i had the exact experience she describes but i did not have a tumor, my conscious split for a moment and the critical reasoning mind separated but i was so glorified and fearless that i could not live that way and returned to identify myself with the Critical Judgmental mind. Big mistake as i see now.
