FRONTAL OFFSET TEST

Good Good Good Good Good Good

Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.
Test details:

The Ford Taurus and the Mercury Sable were redesigned for the 2000 model year to provide more advanced occupant restraint features. The Sable was discontinued after the 2005 model year, and the 2006 Taurus was sold primarily to fleets. The Taurus was then discontinued after the 2006 model year.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. After the dummy moved forward into the airbag, it rebounded into the seat without its head coming close to any stiff structure that could cause injury.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.

  • Safe car! If it wasn't for this car I wouldn't have walked away from an accident.

  • @xxsheat Same here

  • So THAT'S how you open the trunk!

  • I love my Taurus now.

  • I drive one of these.

  • @fitz207 well i perfer manual all the way'..even if the car isnt fast it still helps in mpg and repair cost.and i conider it a bad cars since its mpg and power are both lowalso its fwd and i havent heard very good feedback from mechanics (im studieng to be one myself so i know quite a few mechanics)

  • @RnB123100 Don't really want a manual in a car like the Taurus. I prefer manuals in sports cars, not mid-size family cars. As far as the Taurus being "junk" well that's your opinion, but i still see plenty of them rolling down the road. And "junk cars" don't normally do this good on crash test. This is not Europe, European roads and driving conditions are different than ours. Our cars are made for our roads and European cars are made for European roads.

  • @fitz207 taurus is junk!p.o.s. car, dont even have a manal version!american fords are crap...the e.u. fords are the good ones!

  • Very safe car! The fact that my parents walked away from a 40mph crash involving a DUI driver and 2 other cars is a testament to this. Car may be totaled, and my parents may have whiplash, but it could have been much worse. I will always be a Ford driver.

  • the taurus does reasonably well

  • nissan is a shit, ford is better..... ok?
