For crying out loud, it is funny!
People should find any possible opportunity to laugh with situation in life. They were not laughing to the guy but actual situation and the event that occurred. The way that they put the guy inside was hilarious and you all know it.
Actually, it's quite natural to laugh in situations like that.

Tokyo is one of the most crowded cities in the world. If you don't get on the crowded train, you'd be waiting forever to get home or get to work on the next one that isn't crowded. That's just the way it is. They even have "women only" trains during rush hours so women don't have to deal with some perverts who take advantage of the close quarters
