Ugh, my brain's so used to the sidescroller that its automatically trying to process the video into that format, thus causing me an epic headache.

Have you tried super metroid yet for this, or Mario?
-

-
looks cool. not as hard to play as people think.
-
is there a way to play it at full screen? or make the window bigger?
-
this work would be ideal to understand how to make a 2D game work with 3D glasses.

this looks pretty cool, but it would get annoying after awhile

@mikewj94 As I explained many times, it's more of a concept than anything else. It was never meant to be actually played seriously.

Starxxon, I'm curious about the music. The Famicom has some pretty advanced hardware compared to the NES, and I'm sure a few tunes (and the SFX) are from that version, but I know that many others are not.

@Laserbryte Actually the NES has an extra sound channel compared to the Famicom. But Metroid was released in Japan on the Famicom Disk System, which does provide extra FM-synthesis channels.
I did use FDS sound effects in Metroid Cubed. And the music played when you start, get an item and in the title screen do use these extra channels. In Metroid Cubed you can hear a mix of both versions. The actual level music is the same in both version, but I applied some filters on the individual tracks.

Holy crap this would be SO FUCKING AWESOME if my browser didn't keep freezing up whenever I tried playing the game! Great job! 10 out of 10 if I was a critic!

Look on Metroid Cubed's page, there's now a link to download a Windows or Mac version, which doesn't require a browser.
