Steven C. Hayes, Ph.D., Foundation Professor of Psychology at the University of Nevada. He is an author of 34 books and 475 scientific articles, and has received a number of awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. His self-help book Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life for a time was the best selling self-help book in the country.

For demonstration purposes, Leahy and Hayes take turns employing cognitive interventions with an actor pretending to be a depressed client. The intention is to explore areas of divergence and of overlap between Cognitive Therapy (represented by Leahy) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (represented by Hayes).

  • A pity that the sound quality is so low. As I'm a non-native English user it's at times hard for me to understand what's going on.

  • Captivating: Steve, you nailed it. (The only thing I felt uncomfortable with was the hand on the client's chair...)
