i was a childhood big fan of ''famous monsters'' and knew of forrest ackerman at the age of 7 or eight, about the time i began to read.....around 1960 or 61. it was a hot seller among the kids in my small town. rather than just look at the pic's the way most kids did, i read the stories. i was alway amazed to how they created film magic. it was forrey and his magazine famous monsters that influenced me greatly.
He was so wonderful! Fun and funny, smart and witty, just amazing. He's been an inspiration to so many. I was blessed to visit the Ackermansion. He let me try on Bela Lugosi's cape. Thank you, Forry!
What a treat after church on Sundays when my dad took us to the local newspaper/stationary store and I was permitted to have the latest copy of Famous Monsters of Filmland which kept me happy for a full month until the next one came out. Or was that a bi-monthly?
The Famousest MonsterFan of them all has passed into the Great Beyond ". . . . take me home little boy; you will love me..." was in my mind in 1959 when, at age 9, I saw my first FAMOUS MONSTERS of FILMLAND!
thanks for this video.

Sadly, Mr. Ackerman died at 11:58 Thursday night at the age of 92. He made it past his birthday in November.
