  • I mave an IMac power pc g5..... Can I upgrade it to anything higher than Osx 10.5???? They say it's for intel only, but I've seen videos of people with it on their Macs. I wan to do the same. How do I do that!!!!!!!!?

  • @kyuubimon 10.5 Leopard is all you can go with a G5 .... All you can do from there is keep up to date with your software updates & installed software to keep it purring :P I'm not aware of running 10.6 Snow Leopard on PPC MAcs.

Intel Core Duo can only take you to 10.6 Snow Leopard

Intel Core 2 Duo is Compatibile with the Latest 10.7 Lion OS

So if you plan on any Future Mac Desktops, Go for Core 2 Duo or Higher as of now.

  • how is the internet surfing? and also can it run mac lion?

  • @AJones413

Well, it will surf fine but you cant update to the latast Flash Plug In which sucks. Tho HTML5 will works like flying colors. And no, 10.5 Leopard is as high as you can go with a G4 & the last G5...

    10.6 Snow Leopard & 10.7 Lion is Intel Only ( Core 2 Duo & better )

  • UGH. I got one of these as my first apple computer ever. Not a tech guru at all and trying to update it is a pain in the ass. I really don't want to buy $200 leopard for a $100 computer.

  • Hello mate, i am buying a mac mini with this exact spec tonight. How does it run on leopard ?

  • @SuperTecFreak Leopard is a tad slower as its a more intense OS. Uses up more RAM but I preferred it as one can easily screen share & file share with it to other Macs with a newer OS...

Tiger is the real sweet spot when it came to speed.

  • @KayakServer Well, My Mac Mini Originally came with Panther so yeah. But I dont recommend that OS. Tiger is a more compatibile OS to newer software, devices, & internet plug-ins

  • @linuxboygenius What a gift :) I would've snatched it in a heartbeat. I have since sold the this Mini about a month ago on ebay. Still got $180 for it & thats something I couldn't of managed doing with a 2005 Windows PC LMAO. It's a great collectors item..

  • LOL I GOT A FULLY FUNCTIONAL MAC MINI G4 FROM A THRIFT STORE FOR $9.99 xD (and i'm watching this video with it running 10.5.8)

  • IF I GOT A G4 Mac Mini And Installed Panther Would It Still Work Fine?

  • @pokeeto2 do it make the mac slow?
