Early 2007 15inch macbook pro with 10.5.6 leopard

Specs:
2.4ghz
4gb ram
OCZ Solid series SSD 128gb - read up to 155mb/s, write up to 90 mb/s seek time less than 2-3 ms - i bought it from overclockers, good value for money

The ssd improved boot times by over a minute, before i had a 4,200 rpm drive.
It is lightning fast and doesn't slow the machine down with parallels or vmware fusion or boot camp installed except when i did install vista through bootcamp the shut down times on mac osx did increase
Also i think that the boot time starts from the apple logo but some people may argue.

Finally if ur thinking about changing ur drive then make sure it is 2.5 inches and also make sure you have a T6 torx screw driver and - http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Ma... - this is the best guide i could find and make sure you keep your original hard drive as it voids ur warranty.

  • Hi, i see all the 2.5" ssd drivers are sata II, will be compatible?

  • @madahack compatible with everything that is SATA II - which is everything now days

  • I'm going to upgrade my macbook pro (same of your model). It work fine with OCZ SSD ? Any problems?

  • @fluzietti Ye its been fine now for the nearly 3 years I've had it and its definately prolonged the life of the MBP. No problems, just a much faster laptop :)

  • Have you tried bootcamp with this? Am thinking of getting an OCZ SSD drive to replace the old one in my 2007 MBP, but am wondering if it's fully compatible with Boot Camp/Windows.

  • @KaitainCPS yes at the time I did have bootcamp installed I think, it works fine :)

  • I love how people are disliking this video as it delivers exactly what the title promises.

  • @muk546

    It's a year now

  • Honestly, that's really slow for a SSD. Ubuntu boots in 16 seconds on a normal 7,200 drive.

  • thats 45min faster than mine :D
