This video has been entered into the 2011 Neuro Film Festival from the American Academy of Neurology Foundation at www.neurofilmfestival.com.

It is a re-working of the longer short video "You Look Great!" -- Inside a Traumatic Brain Injury, which my son Chris made of my so-called recovery from a so-called mild TBI. We posted it on YouTube 2 years ago.

Marilyn Spivak, founder of the Brain Injury Association of America, says, "This short film is a must-see for anyone whose life touches mild TBI: survivors, families, friends, and professionals. With great insight, courage and humor, John gives us a rare view of what it's like to live with this injury. His story, images, and metaphors open up a world typically closed, invisible, ignored, or misunderstood."

  • John and Chris ... this is brilliant! Boy can I relate and am a film maker wwwDOTflywithmeproductionsDOTcom On the blog is "The Gift of a Near Fatal Fall". Right now I can't do all the steps of life with the many and must stay focussed. It is like the past is dissolving and the delete button is pressed every time I open my eyes. Good thing in my view! ahahhahaa Cheers!

  • passing on your story.....God continue to bless you all.

  • AWESOME job on the final cut for the Neuro Film Festival!!!! I'm totally impressed. Got all the biggies into just 5 minutes. Chris, GOOD job, and John, you're a brave man. And one of my heroes. As is your wife.

  • Once again....AWESOME job John & Chris! I loved your analogy of Recovery vs Rehab...especially after the 5months of Cognitive Rehab I have done for my "Mild" TBI 2 yrs ago! Thanks for all you do to educate and encourage other!

  • It's so nice to be able to see and share this video with others and say "look, this is what it is like".

  • John - Fantastic! I love the part that addresses the "you should be thankful you survived it as well as you did" issue. While I know you are thankful for what you have, it doesn't mean you don't get to mourn what you don't have. (Leaving that sentence as is, despite the fact that the double, nay triple, negative is making me twitch!)

  • Thanks for sharing your words and face!!

    Informative, extremely creative, encouraging, educational.
