A video on a Crayfishes response to stimuli, one of the primary characteristics of life. By Michael Sullivan, Brett M. Warner, and Nicholas Hood.

In this video, you will learn about one of the primary characteristics of life... the response to stimuli. As is seen throughout the video therere two major categories of behavior; Aggressive, and Submissive. Depending on the size of the crayfish and the introduction of another crayfish of a different size, different situations were created, each causing their own unique and different reaction. The first category of behavior, Aggressive includes such actions as; strike, push, approach, threat, displacement, hold, and of course fighting!
On the other side of the behavior spectrum in the submissive category the crayfish take such actions, as avoidance, and retreating.
Not just crayfish but all creatures to be considered must respond to stimuli, as part of the definition of what life truly is.

  • Guys this was a really great vid on crayfish behavior, straightforward and rich in scientific information as well as examples. I appreciate the work you put into it...it is classic and could well be shown in a classroom environment. Thank you for the hard work you put into this. Please beef the summary up a little bit for full credit.
