"The government has no right to pick through your private information just because that's technologically possible," says American Civil Liberties Union policy counsel and former FBI agent Mike German. "The laws are now so lax that they can."

German sat down with Reason.tv to discuss the top threats to civil liberties after 9/11. They range from new interpretations of the Fourth Amendment to law enforcement's fascination with vast empires of data to "fusion centers" that pool sources among intelligence agencies and local police.

About 6.30 minutes.

Produced by Paul Detrick. Shot by Joshua Swain. Edited by Detrick and Tracy Oppenheimer.

  • @polevaultrockstr I don't disagree, but the ACLU has the profile and bona fides to carry some weight in that arena. Who else is out there? I wish there was a Libertarian entity of comparable stature.

  • @steve0281 Why not another group that bring to light only legit problems? Thinking we need one group to do a specific task is very risky. Competition always brings about the best results.

  • Anyone can join a nonviolent organization or form one to expose selfish, corrupt, toxic, and evil people and organizations who directly and indirectly benefit from distorted information.

Study the law to preserve your civil rights and civil liberties.

Anyone can Google Max Rafael Waller - to study my writings especially at Yahoo Answers.

Thank you from Max Rafael Waller

  • Mike German of ACLU and a former FBI Agent peacefully expose wrongdoers. FBI, CIA, and others have activist and whistleblowers whose legal protections have been weakened by elected officials regardless of their political affiliations.

Organizations and people who preach any form of hate is why world history books are filled information with all forms of injustices that will eternally continue because enough people benefit from this lifestyle.

Thank you from Max Rafael Waller

  • @chevydriver1123 Couldn't have said it better myself

  • @MrDarknessandDeath I presented my points, you made some vague argument about "logic" and the Founders being un-American, but you didn't refute my actual points. I don't have to refute your non-points. I presented mine, counter if you can.

  • As much as I dislike the ACLU for much of the stupidity it engages in THIS is the reason I feel that it is necessary.

  • @chevydriver1123 You've only proved that statists HAVE been in charge of all govt's (except for the US in the old days). "Name any govt program that's been scaled down to constitutional levels" The post office?
