When Are you people going to get it through your thick skulls?!!! NIN did not write this song it was Johnny Cash who wrote it. Nine Inch Nails stole this song from Johnny Cash and then tried to make it look like Cash's version was the cover, only because Cash had never recorded it until 2003. Please join me in Boycotting Trent Reznor and his dirty version of Hurt. For anyone who supports this cause, there is a following on my channel where I provide instructions on how.

@Gutterfish12 Agreed,,,,but Nine Inch Nails' version is better ;).

@Meteddica This is true, but your wording DID come across as dismissive of Johnny's version and that's not fair either. One should be able to defend one without seeming to dismiss the other.

@Purrrple But I'm just arguing a point that people shouldn't constantly debunk the original because this one is "more meaningful". To me personally, the original is more meaningful because Trent actually wrote those lyrics, and it has an eerie, lonely feel to it. Trent suffers from the same condition as me too, which adds a whole world of emotion to the song. I like both versions, I just don't think there's anything wrong with thinking the original means a lot more.

@Meteddica Cash had as many if not more bad times as Trent and Trent his DAMN self now considers this a Johnny Cash song. If the guy who wrote it thinks Johnny's is better, that should be good enough.

omg i cant believe how much game graphics have progresed ,i still remember plaing the frst 2d square prince of persia incredible
It pisses me off how people debate about whos version is better!! does it matter?? the song is incredible and both cash and reznor have poured their heart into it, so feel the music, and feel the message they are conveying, or go and listen to something else.

Why is it more meaningful? Cash was nearing death, but Reznor actually wrote these lyrics during a time of immense depression. At least Cash had a great life behind him and it was just his time. Reznor hated his life and this song sums up how he was feeling around those times.
I think this version is more meaningful and much more emotional.
