"Now the winter has come
To eclipse out the sun
That has lighted my love for sometime
And a cold wind now blows
Not much tenderness flows
From the heart of someone feeling so tired
And he feels so alone
With no love of his own
So sad, so bad, so sad, so bad

While his memory raced
With much speed and great haste
Through the problems of being there
In his heart at arm's length
Held within its great strength
To ward off such a great despair
But he feels so alone
With no love of his own
So sad, so bad, so sad, so bad

Take the dawn of the day
And give it away
To someone who can fill the part
Of the dream we once held
Now it's got to be shelved
It's too late to make a new start
And he feels so alone
With no love of his own
So sad, so bad, so sad, so bad"

  • I love this song so much! Miss you George!

  • Mind you, he does sing some songs on this album better than others (i.e. It is He [Jai Sri Krishna]). I think he recorded some at times when his voice was better and at other times when his voice was worse.

I can assure you, his voice DOES change throughout the album. As supposed to his voice on, say, All Things Must Pass, which stays uniform throughout.

  • @drutgat2

What should I tell you? Maybe the vocal track sync in this song was bad? The fact is that he can sing better than this. Here's a short radio clip of him singing Awaiting on You All and Far East Man.

  • Thanks for posting this.

I have always thought that 'So Sad' (interesting that Paul also recorded a wonderful song with this title, too, later), and 'Simply Shady' were first-rate songs, unlike the other ones on 'Dark Horse'.

As a couple of others have said, George's voice is great here, it was just on the 'Dark Horse' tour that he was hoarse.

  • I think George gave this song to Alvin Lee for his Road To Freedom LP prior to his recording it for the Dark Horse LP, and even played slide guitar. As Hari Georgeson! Do you have that? AND PLEASE can you put the demo on You Tube?

  • Dark Horse demo, btw. I can't find a demo for So Sad.

  • @kentaappel

Yes, that's because his voice got even worse after recording the album.

Have you listened to the demo though? That's George's real voice!

  • @nafaidni I will have to listen to the demo, I haven't heard it yet, but this vocal is not worse, then say, his singng on Give Me Love Give Me Peace on Earth or some of his other songs on other albums, to me anyway. But his voice on some of the live takes from various numbers from his tour from this time are rough.

I meant to say on my last post that I like the guitar parts on this song as well.

  • @kentaappel

I would disagree. Listen to Dark Horse and then listen to its demo version. The difference is palpable.

  • @CubanCheGuevara Ah, and CubanCheGuevara is another account of the same 'person'. Frightwolf, thegrinch7, TwoUselessLegs, ArgentinaExpel4Fraud and I bet many more. The ONLY person hating Harrison is you, poor bastard. You desperately try to make it look as if there were others but the truth is only one - You're the only one. Seriously, HOW SAD IS THAT?
