Fred has been lame-ish for a while. Some days he is really lame and others he is barely, but nobody knows why EXACTLY. He is getting shockwave therapy done in a few weeks. The vet has told me he is okay to go out and be a horse occasionally.... and be lightly worked; so I've been taking videos of him playing around and occasionally LIGHTLY riding him.

Shows all new clips. A lot of him just being free and running around. A few clips of when I ride him no stirrups and no reins... which is a huge improvement. Before he was "too dangerous to ride" and now I trust him enough to do that. We will try bareback sometime! He's pretty unpredictable and uncomfortable! Some clips of me bareback on him in his stall... all the riding [trotting] clips are from lameness evaluations.

Hopefully he will be better soon... I miss my boy. :(

  • Have you already had a vet check him out?

  • @rockinewok

Yep. Many times. He just had his first shockwave therapy treatment today.

  • @aznssaywhaat What did the vet say that the problem was?

  • @rockinewok

We don't know for sure. 6 different vets have tried to diagnose him and he's a "clinical mix-up". He had an appointment yesterday (7-5-10) and they said they BELIEVE it's an adhesion in his suspensory ligament. But, they don't know for sure. We're treating it with shockwave, which they believe will treat it, and if he doesn't improve... he's probably screwed. They've 100% ruled out basically everything besides that.

So now he's on shockwave therapy and stall rest.

  • @aznssaywhaat Are the electrodes for increasing circulation in the suspensory?

  • @rockinewok

    Yep.

  • awhwh:( hope he's better now! you look amazing together guys:L

  • Are you looking for another horse?

  • @rockinewok

How did the shock wave work for your horse? This summer a mare was brought to the farm I'm interning at with a very badly broken navicular bone. She was treated with shock wave, and had a bar shoe on, as soon as the snow started falling we pulled the shoes, she's looking quite good now, though I guess we'll know better in the spring.

  • Is he doing any better?

  • Poor Fred hope he gets better soon.
