Tully came into the shelter as a stray. He is an absolutely adorable boy; big, handsome and sweet as can be. Tully is lots of fun to have around as he loves to cuddle and has a lot of love to give.
Unfortunately, Tully was living outdoors before he came to the shelter and contracted FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) which is essentially the cat equivalent to HIV in humans. But don't worry, it's nothing that people or other species can catch, so they can live long and wonderful lives with their people friends and other animals friends, like dogs, hamsters and bunnies; just not other cats. FIV passes through the saliva, so a fight between cats, even if it's in play, can possibly transfer the virus. It's safer for a cat like Tully to live in a home where he would be the only cat or where the other cats are FIV positive. He needs to live with a family who is dedicated to keeping him strictly indoors and who are prepared for keeping up with regular vet care including annual exams and vaccines. Anyone who is considering taking Tully home should speak with their vet ahead of time to discuss any concerns they may have with taking on a cat who is FIV positive. More detailed information about FIV will be provided during the adoption meeting as well.
You won't regret opening up your home to this beautiful and loving kitty!
