But unformtuantly I beleive that it was indeed hacked and permanently shut down, it may appear that the owner shut it down, but I believer that it was hacked and this time hacked for good, probably with some death threats or bribes.

Not true, if you have your own dns and server thats up 99.9% they won't do shit to you, unless they go as far as sending people into your house and whack your computer with a cro bar LOL.

But even FTP is secure, just don't use PHP, AJAX, or MySQL scripts that you don't need, but if you do, LEARN HOW TO SECURE THEM seriously, its not that hard to secure them.
