Berlin - 07 May 2010 -

The president of Kosovo, Fatmir Sejdiu on Thursday (May 6) began a two-day visit of Germany in Berlin where he met with the country's leadership.
Sejdiu began his official programme with a courtesy visit to his German counterpart Horst Koehler who received the head of state with military honours outside Schloss Bellevue castle, Koehler's official residence.
German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle later visited Sejdiu at the president's hotel where they briefly shook hands for cameras before holding closed-door talks.
Chancellor Angela Merkel then received Sejdiu at the chancellor's office.
Although there was no news conference scheduled for after the meeting, it was believed that besides bilateral issues, the two leaders would also discuss the political situation in Kosovo and the troops Germany has deployed there as part of NATO's KFOR force.
As of February 2010, German troops in Kosovo amounted to 1,507, according to NATO.
