Victor Buono gives a very convincing, and disturbingly realistic, portrayal of a character modeled after the Boston Strangler in this gripping horror drama. "The Strangler" is compelling, character-driven piece that has a similar look and feel to Hitchcock's "Psycho", albeit with an even darker, much grittier atmosphere. With some shocking murders and chillingly violent and sexual overtones, this controversial movie feels edgy and ahead of its time, carrying as much impact today as it did when it was released in 1964.
