Health Care Without Harm, supported by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is an international coalition of 25 hospitals and health care systems established to research and adopt environmentally sound practices to promote the health and safety of patients and workers. A key goal of the collaborative will be to evaluate the impact of green initiatives on patient and worker health.

  • I stayed with my 90 year old mother in a Meridian, MS hospital. She was diagnosed with MRSA and I was told to wear protective gloves and mask around her. However, when the nurse emptied her urine in the comode, she always left the empty pan on the toilet seat. I tried to make sure the seat was sanitized when I used the toilet, but I am not sure that I had the proper cleanser for cleaning. Thank you for looking at all the ways hospitals and doctor's offices can make health care safer for all.

  • Excellent information to encourage health care professionals and administrators to move to greener options. Please post a follow up video when some of the research results come in.

Would love to see RWJF fund a related video focused on reducing medical waste incineration through the use of alternatives like advanced autoclaving and some of the other newer technologies. It's an old issue, but still a crucial one, especially for the communities living under those plumes.
