Just something to think about...

The days of editing have changed a lot in the past year. It seems to me that the standard of "good" editing has increased by such a large amount that editors like me are finding it increasingly difficult to keep producing original, innovative and good looking videos for you. Whereas other subpar editors can easily copy something they see and still receive good feedback.

Anyway, onto the video. I was asked by The Argos to make him a new montage, it was meant to be around 3-4 minutes long, however for reasons that I outlined above, it is very hard to keep editing nowadays and still have motivation. This is definitely not my best work, as there isn't much new that you haven't seen in this community before. However enjoy it for what it is :)

There's only so much people can do when editing call of duty videos, people are going to copy others because they enjoy what they see and want to replicate it, heck, I'm even guilty for being unoriginal and there's no point even denying it. But not out of choice, but because everything that could be done, has been done. It takes pioneers of editing to truely make something original, everyone who has been in S9 has bought something new to the table, something that people have been blown away by.

@eraserrhead thanks man. and you're partially right, but i dont think "everything" is done, and i dont think thats ever possible, its just that a lot of good ideas have been used. mw3 will be a good test for the editing community seeing as how there should be theater and more possibilities.

Mmm, I must agree that the times are changing faster than I think they should be, but I can't understand the thought process of people who don't think this is original, from my perspective, this was great - simple cuts and a few graphics all result in something better than the typical style montage (Colour corrections, tons o blurs, heavy twixtoring)

I enjoyed it, I thumbed? Why can't we just go back to the days were we liked a video and just enjoyed it rather than fight about the small things?

its difficult to even be a respectable editor these days. there is so much you can do wrong, and so much you have to know if you want to be original. the early days of editing was easier to be original because there wasnt so many used ideas, so editors could practice editing while still being orignial. but now that its difficult to be original its difficult to get better at editing because there is so much thought process involved and less editing so getting better takes alot longer.

@vkBruu I'm glad someone in this community understands. For the past 3 years, originality has always originated from the members of S9. Knoll lighting, film clutter, twixtor, syncing, 16bit style, 2d animation. It all came from here first. I often wonder what would happen if Studion9ne suddenly stopped making new styles of editing...

@noec666 There are a million different ways, not everything has been used yet. And even thou someone uses the same effect, or whatsoever. You can always use it slightly different. Something that makes your video original.

The more video's you watch of different people, the more you find a own idea. That's mainly the way i think it is.

Also i shouldn't have said the exact words: lack in your creativity, it only seemed that way when looking at your comment.

@eraserrhead Than i think, you must just have a lack in your creativity. Even when i see things that have already been done, when i imagine the footage with the music i lissen, i see things no one has ever done before. And even than i cannot have seen every single cod video that is around, but nearly everytime i do see a video, i see i would have done different. I'm learning how to use the programms, and hopefully i can create my own ideas.

@iiTzQuiik The PC community has videos coming out that entertain me loads. The ideas may not be fresh, the editors may not be trying to be original but above all it showcases real skill and editing that is alive, fast-paced and above all.. ENTERTAINING!
