The first in a possible long line in proof videos showing that the Sega MegaDrive outranks the Super Nintendo when it comes to some games, and it's not always the other way around.

Though seeing as the MegaDrive had already got its fair share of decent Disney games at this point, it's no wonder why more effort was put into this port.

You could argue that the later Mega CD and Playstation ports beat this one but you'd expect that.

  • I hate that everyone judges the genesis for it's lack of colors compared to the SNES. You have to remember the Genesis came out in the late 80s and the SNES came out in the early 90s.

  • SNES= nostalgic

  • @ClassicGameLover Yet they went on to make Earthworm Jim, a classic 16-bit era game that I'd say is better than Capcom's attempt at Disney games. Also I'd look at Gamesack for their episode on Disney Games. They seem to have a very unbiased look at them.

  • @ClassicGameLover Also, he claims the Genesis Aladdin is hard, when it is fairly easy. I beat it a number of times as a child and was only occasionally frustrated. It was all about timing: you either had it or you didn't. I only ever really blamed myself for not getting certain things right.

  • @ClassicGameLover Having seen it, I now understand what you mean. However, it does not make it a better game. When he says "unique emphasis on platforming" it sounds like a joke since there were many other, better platformers on the SNES. Also, the music sounds worse.

  • @SaudadeSunday Watch the Happy Video Game Nerd's Disney video, and that will explain better than I can why the SNES version is better, and he's right on the mark when he explains it too!!!

  • @ClassicGameLover RE and Dino Crisis are nothing like Aladdin, bro. Also, just because a certain person made something doesn't make it better. You still have not pointed out what was better, specifically. You say this was made by these guys and that was made by those guys, therefore this must be better than that. We call this a "fallacy" in arguments. Also, I prefer Disney's music to some game composer's. Finally, Virgin's Aladdin team made Shiny, so they were pretty great.

  • @SaudadeSunday No, not only did the SNES version follow the movie better, it was made by Capcom obviously, it was designed by Shinji Mikami, who later went on to create RESIDENT EVIL and DINO CRISIS, and it had a soundtrack by the same people who did Mega Man X's music! Virgin Interactive makes LJN look like Square Soft. That's how much THEY suck! They have NOTHING on Capcom

  • @ClassicGameLover I didn't say that not following the movie made it better. I said that following it doesn't make it better. You interpreted my comment incorrectly. If the only argument for Aladdin being better on the SNES was that it followed the movie better, then it's a poor argument. If you could think of a better reason, then I'd agree, but, as of your argument, it's a poor reason. I could make a perfectly accurate movie to game adaptation and it could be a shit game.

  • @ClassicGameLover And the SNES version is also made by Capcom, a far superior company.

  • @SaudadeSunday Following the movie better doesn't make it a better game?? The two Back To The Future games on the NES had nothing to do with the movie either, so I guess that means they're superior to the SNES game, because it didn't follow the movie, because like you said, it's no big deal. I guess Jaws on NES is a good game too. Virgin Interactive sucks. They made that piece of crap Cybercop and other crappy games. Genesis Aladdin is more overrated than Call Of Duty.

  • @SaudadeSunday Indeed. Moore's Law is one reason why we expected more from SNES and yet always felt underwhelmed by it. Nintendo chose to use the economy RICOH CPU and went with improved hardware effects like mode 7. A slower processor was a move showing genius; it kept the console's price competitive. It is ironic however that the MD was, in spite of it's Moore's year age gap actually more capable of full 3D ... look at Virtua racing compared to Star Fox if you do not believe me.
