Morgan Hill, CA After four seasons training the world’s foremost retailers in bicycle fit through their SBCU training program, Specialized bicycles now leads the way in certifying bicycle fit experts with the graduation of their first-ever BG FIT certification class on March 26, 2009.
In their state-of-the-art training facility at Specialized’s Morgan Hill, California headquarters, the staff of SBCU along with leading fit authority Dr. Andy Pruitt and his team from the Boulder Center For Sports Medicine, oversaw both a written examination and an observed bicycle fit practicum to a dozen students from 12 different Specialized dealers across the country. In the fit practicum each student was asked to properly fit a random subject to their road bike by following the complete Body Geometry 3D Fit process, which includes an interview, physical assessment and comprehensive 2D and 3D positioning.
“Our dealers asked us for a concrete way to demonstrate to the discerning riders in their community that they were the leaders in bicycle fit,” said Specialized President and Founder Mike Sinyard. “With our new BG FIT Certification process we do just that. Any dealer that completes the BG FIT Certification process is bound to become the bicycle fit leader in their market and to see the financial returns that go along with that.”
With the first graduating class out the door, Specialized has announced two more BG FIT Certification examination sessions in the next nine months. “We’ve spent years creating and fine-tuning our BG FIT bicycle fit philosophy and system and I’m glad we can finally provide a method for the dedicated fit experts that we’ve trained to differentiate themselves from the crowd,” said Dr. Andy Pruitt Ed.D., PA the director of the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine.
