"News" casters are dismissive of Berkeley on CNN and Fox News. That is not very intelligent.

If Berkeley City Council votes to proclaim Manning a hero, they will seal their destiny.

"Why would they out him"
Exactly!
If manning is placed before a court after such a defamatory and damning exposure, how could he possibly receive a fair and unbiased trial?
But within this system, all that's needed is to convince the majority - through the media - of his guilt, that way the trial becomes a mere formality.
But then, that's democracy.
If you have the power to get the masses to agree, YOU WIN!
The stark reality is...
The majority of us lack this power.

you shit is dire when Canada sends its own citizens to American Prisons for turture and for breaking american laws that are not aplicable in Canada.

@swiftysmithuk You are right, but this stinks of set up.Why would they out him ,when they knew he would get life in prison? hes an obvious pawn in somthing much larger.
-
I'm not saying that is the case, just pointing out that he may have his reasons, and they may well be honourable in his eyes.
If the "establishment" is never to be challenged and is allowed to work in the shadows of "security", how do you propose to keep the bad guys from inhabiting the positions within it?
Every time that has happened in the past, the Government becomes something similar to a protection racket offered by the Mob!
Pay your dues, or get hurt!
Sound familiar?

Maybe a soldier would do so if he saw things that called upon him to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign AND domestic?
After all, he swore that he would bear true faith and allegiance to both causes.
If enemies of the constitution or traitors to the people gained ranking positions of authority, and did so by subversive means, would YOU remain silent, or would you be brave enough to put yourself on the line to flush them out?
-
...why would manning, or any other soldier, violate his trust and spy against the establishment?
manning should not be in jail. Its like showing up at a crime scene and arresting the witness.

How dare they mock this honorable man who blew the whistle on our corrupt government. HE could have given this info to the Russians or the Chinese for lots of money instead he gave it to the press like a true hero.
