Brazil still suffers from the mentality of low self esteem do to two decades of economic cultural and moral decline so the majority still hold a colonial mentality. The mentalty of the people is changeing for the better but it will take a long time if Brazil had the same self esteem like Israel it would be totaly diffrent country the economy is getting better what lacks is self esteem.

@blueiguy1, Obama "inherited a crisis" and it's possible that he does not win the next elections because he can't fight against many "powers" to do what is necessary. But if the situation get much worse, these "powers" will have no choice. While they think that there are other solutions without losing anything, they close the doors.

@LoyalNancy Yeah, the American standard of living has always been incredibly high .After the 80's credit card debt shot up so it's always been artificial. People have gotten used to the idea of the "American Dream" and it still can flourish but the problem is we know the solutions it's just we won't do them. Corporate powers run everything to the point were elections have become so drowned out by them. Not to mention a war that cost a total of 3.5 trillion dollars.

@blueiguy1, I don't understand much about economics. All I know is that during many years I saw Brazil "in crisis" and now the situation reversed; Brazilians are coming back and the country is even attracting immigrants from the countries where they lived in Europe, US etc. So, there is always hope. Americans were not used to living in such a difficult situation and it can last even more some years, but it's never forever. Solutions, no matter how difficult they are, always appear.

@LoyalNancy But what is different is that you cannot get rid of the debt even in bankruptcy . So say you graduate with 50,000 in this economy .It's there . FOR . LIFE. There is no leaving, You basically suffer. But there is hope in America it's just a growing bubble that will burst .This model does not work forever..It's just to the point were we have no real freedom.

@blueiguy1, until the end of the years 80 we saw a historical inflation in Brazil reach 80% a month. Imagine your salary 80% smaller every 30 days and prices in supermarkets etc. increasing daily. The external debt was very high etc. Many Brazilians prefered to suffer prejudices abroad and only immigrants seemed to believe in the country. After correct actions, the serious situation was controlled and now Brazil is growing well. So, never think that "there is no light in the end of the tunnel".

@aferg76, I know that many Brazilians are also racist, although most try to hide it in front of the people who they discriminate "in the back". Racism exist in the whole world and it's also a way to feel "superior", better than others, more good looking, more intelligent, more developed etc. Do you think that in your country racism do not exist even against people from other African countries? And what do you mean by "living its 1940"?
-
why are brazilians still living like its 1940

@LoyalNancy brazilians are racist

@BlackcakesFL Dude this is just the beginning with student loans out the ass most people can't go abroad ANYWAY and use their skills. We have become debt surfs. Why would you start a business or go to grad school or create wealth when in order to make it you have to be in debt. The shit is crazy America is slowly going downhill
I 'm Brazilian and never could understand why many compatriots left the country to live a false dream, while many people, including from the called 1st world, have always inmigrated to Brazil and have success here, own their own business, good houses etc. In reality inmigrantes dream about getting things quick and easy, but work much more hard abroad. They would not need to suffer prejudices in the USA etc. By the way, there is a good number of Americans coming to work and live in Brazil.
