An Original Song For & Inspired by little Zachary Noah.

The picture of UP's X4019 is an old Union Pacific Public Relations photograph said to have been taken in 1942.
The Big Boys pulled Freight & Coal across Wyoming and Utah. Rumor has it that a Doubleheader (2 Big Boys) pulled a train 7 miles long. Easy to do in the remoteness of the region. Of machines, they are the stuff of legends.
This song was recorded in Feb 2005 and was inspired by a little boy who touched my heart.

About the Song:

It's about a boy cannot speak but can talk through through his prized Hohner harmonica, who had wandered into a Union Pacific rail yard after having been abandoned by his mother and as train schedules are strictly kept, the engineer finds himself in a fix, struggling with mixed emotions knowing full well, he cannot go chasing the boy's mother down as she cannot be found nor can he leave the 3 year old by himself in the dangerous yard for fear of obviously foreseeable tragedy. What to do?
Now the engineer's name is James, and he remedies the situation by inviting the boy along for the ride and that he will see to it that the will be reunited with his mother.
I found that as they play, it's as though one calls out for mama while the other calls out for his lost love.

The boy who inspired this song is Zachary Noah. A very, very special young feller to me.

Dedication:
I would also like to dedicate this song to all those little children, past, present and future, who, for reasons known to them, who have and will have had to battle life's excruciatingly challenging mountain grades:
Whether you be a victim of physical or neurolgical birth defects, emotional trauma, such as the loss of parents, child abuse, child neglect, social isolation from would be friends, which has left many shut out from the joys that the fortunate seem to have had the pleasure to enjoy so effortlessly, yet look down their noses upon the less fortunate and invisible. This song is for you.
Someone cares about you.

For the children who's lives never came to be and the children who's lives were taken, all, for the selfishness of this world. This song is for you
Someone cares about you.

For ANYONE who lives with a broken heart, broken home, broken dreams and a broken life, so violently shattered into dusty powder. This song is for you.
Someone cares about you.

For those who live life standing on a bridge at the end of the world. This song is for you.
Someone cares about you.

From Whom?
Jesus said, "Come unto me, all of you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
And it is said of him "Cast all your cares upon him, for he careth for you."
And the Father, which is in Heaven, "Who so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever would believe in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life" said, "This is my beloved Son, Listen to Him."

Told ya.
Someone cares about you.

Please enjoy.

  • Interesting song. I dont know what it is about it. But it grabs me. I will be honest. At first I thought it sucked. But half way through I decided to look at the description. Then it made sense to me. Very touching. And very powerful just as the 4-8-8-4 its self. Great work!

  • @SovietWolf1

Thank you for the compliment, Sovietwolf1.

  • this song made me think about a lot of things. it's not just about the boy and his harmonica ..

I couldn't help but feel sort of sad for the boy? I could hear the confusion in this song kind of like - should I go this way, that way.

it's an interesting concept cause the train goes one way.

this is what I took away from the song.

    five stars, no doubt.

  • Thank you for the 5 stars, Crys. :>)

    That's an interesting interpretation.

It suggests to me that you understand that

life goes in one direction no matter how often we try to decide which direction life will take us. When we have not been down that road, we may wonder if we should follow it.

  • I have been all over the US and have seen all the mountains, valleys, deserts and plains. I've seen searing heat, frigid ice, earthquakes, sandstorms, snow storms, ice storms, tornadoes and hurricanes.

sleepy towns to great metropolis'. Been there, done that.

Life is that way. Through experience, especially the hard ones, we learn to trust the Experienced Driver and not ourselves.

  • Goodness ya got me blabbing haha :)

ANYHOW.. what i meant to get across is, everyone is on a path in their life. Each person is trying to reach the center (god), but just as a wheel has many spokes all coming from different directions, so too I see people coming to "god", the creator, universal force, whatever you may wish to call it. And each person has requirements in their lives that they are needing fulfilled

I feel your pain, indeed, thoroughly, and I wish you to find peace. You shall!

  • You understand, I think.

I know you're christian, and encourage you to hold on tight to your faith, for that is what you are needing in your life.

For me, I am unreligious, though I used to be what you'd call christian. Nowadays, i feel i have a deeper relationship with Christ than most "churchians" do (i think you probably understand what i mean by that), and actually feel closer to him now than I ever did when I was in a religious bent of mind hehe

  • He will learn things, then regress backwards to the old stages again, never quite being able to get ahead

it's hard on him, of course, but because of the disorder, he doesn't truly understand what's happening to him

Those moments, however, those fleeting, beautiful moments, when he looks straight into my eyes with clarity... when i see the boy and man that he SHOULD have been.. boy those can be painful. But, you know... I would never trade them for the world

It's those moments that I live for

  • Well, if you were to watch a couple of my other vids, you'd know what this song now means to me...

Our son Seth (age 7) is severely autistic, and for many years has had trouble even talking.. but he loves his harmonica, and can play it BEAUTIFULLY

He was a normal child until age 2.5, when he lost EVERYTHING (couldnt even walk for a while), out of nowhere one day. He was finally diagnosed with Childhood desintigrative disorder 2 years ago

  • I would also like to add that you, AcordeAnita, are the first person outside of my family and close friends to have heard and commented on this song. In the whole wide world.

My hope is that this song will inspire the world in some positive way.

Your 5* review lends hope to that hope.

Thank you so much for caring to watch.
