the package method is usually simpler for the not so advanced users. Also if you have already made changes to your xcode folder then please do a clean install of Xcode.

This video will show you how you can install your xcode application (iphone) onto your iphone without paying $99 per year to apple. You can also build it and put it on your cydia repo without retrieving an error. This will bypass a code signature onto your iphone app which will allow you device to run the application. In other words, if you build and run your application for device it will give you an error. To get rid of it just follow this video. I am building this on 3.0 Device, you can do this for any version. The instructions I follow in the video are all in the package.

PLEASE USE THE ABOVE LINK UNDER UPDATE FOR IOS4. THIS WILL WORK FOR ALL VERSIONS BELOW IOS4 AS WELL.

Any version of Xcode from the one used in the video to 3.2.2 is compatible.
