  • Zelatur, glad you had gud results with the balancing. :0)

  • Hi 9b8, the guages are not actualy mercury based anymore, they are alloy sliders, safer cos of mercury is quite poisionous. Anyways the slider type imo, is easier to read at a glance than 4 dials in a row, the sliders are also dampes so they dont jump around much, apart from that not much difference and the dial type works very well.

  • YYep the k1 and after is a sod to get at the vac take offs,

Leaving the tank on just makes the job harder.

Tickover at 1200 rpm is too high imo, regardless of what Mr Hayes tells u, leave it at 1000 rpm ;-)

  • had the same on mine, found the vac cap down the plug hole. :0)

yeh, realized after i made the vid that i had said mercury instead of sliders, old school you see, use to working with a set of mercury ones back in the day. ;o)

  • Glad it helped out Vvviiinnnyyylll, :0)

  • glad your bikes running smoother Zelatur :0)

  • Hey Trebor4460. That is a great video. I defo need to get me a set of those gauges.

    I,ve got me a 600 bandit.

Having a few carb probs at the mo and got an oil leak out the front of engine under manifolds.

Hoping to have the bike sounding the same as yours dis by the end of that video.

    Any Tips??

  • Hi treb, nice vid on this procedure; 'twas helpful. I have a little virago 535 that just got its carbs fully rebuilt with all new jets and such, and she's running rough. At some point I'm sure I will need to sync the carbs, after the prereq's are taken care of (timing, valve adjustment, etc). What advantage is this mercury-based guage over the analog dial type? I'm in the US and looking to buy one, but would prefer to get a better one if I'm going to buy one at all. Appreciate your vid.
