Machinima Island was created by altering and re-designing Second Life in order to create a set of cartoon-like scenario and characters as well as a set of project-specific machinima tools. All the designs, animations and programming were purpose-built for the piece using a team formed with programmers, designers and fine artists. Special code and features were created so that machinima/performance could be generated in real-time. In this project SL Machinimators worked collaboratively alongside audiences in the development of this series. All face/body puppetry and storyboarding were also developed in real-time thanks to these purpose-built tools.
