The first camcorder to traverse most of the "underground" portion of the NJ Hirailers subway line. This is a short clip since (1) there was a public show going on, and (2) the simulated outside third-rail was just a little too close at one of the interlockings.

A newer, narrower version of CamTrak is in the works thanks largely to this experience, so it will be operable on all four tracks.

  • Super. I assume there will be a roof? How many years before your done?

  • I', not a member of this club (yet) so I'm not sure. I do know that a subway yard and access ramps are being constructed so that subway trains can be moved into and out of the "underground" section. Presumably the rest of the trackage will be roofed over as the city scene adjacent to the starting point of the video is completed. But that's just my assumption.

  • Nice video just wondering are you guys done with the subway yet??

  • I'm not in the club (yet), but the club is currently working on access ramps to the level above the enclosed section, where a subway yard is being built (and physical connections to the rest of the layout). After that's done they're supposed to start on an elevated line running around that segment of the layout.

  • Great video...Was anyone hurt?

  • wow the train was going fast

  • Great subway layout - quite a shock at the end to see that giant little boy's head suddenly emerge from the side! ;-)

  • It's being done. a passenger terminal and a residential neighborhood are already above the area where the video starts. A subway yard is being built on the other side, and there will also be an elevated line running above the subway.

  • Never been in on a subway. Here in Michigan thay can pull themslves together to build on.

Closest to mass transit we have is Coleman Young's "People Mover". Lame!
