Here is a stirring tribute song to my good friend, Senator Ted Kennedy called 'Headed Home.' I wrote this song with the great Phil Springer. Take a moment to listen to the words. You don't have to agree with everyone's politics...none of us agree 100% of the time. But you have to admire a lifetime dedicated to public service and improving the lives of others -- and that is just one of the many things that made Ted great. I think this song captures a small part of Ted's legacy of service. Listen to it and see what you think.
Lyrics:
Through the darkness
We can find a pathway
That will take us half way
To the stars.
Through the rain and fog
We can find a clear day
Shoo the shadows and doubts away
And touch the legacy that is ours.
Yours and mine
And our children's
For all time.
Just honor him
Honor him
And every fear
Will be a thing of the past.
America, America
We're headed home
We're headed home
At last.
Just honor him
Honor him
And on the reefs of despair
We shall not crash.
America
America
We're sailing home
Sailing home
America
America
We're headed home
Headed home
At last.

I don't care what your politics are. This was a classy thing to do.

I think it's wrong to be demeaning to Ted Kennedy on a video that posts such a beautiful song. Whatever you thought of the man, this is the time to put politics aside, just for now.
It's also wrong for those to demand we give up our principles and follow Ted's dream, even if we think it's misguided and harms what America stands for. I also find it funny that no democrat will ever write any such song for any republican. I thought they were supposed to be the compassionate ones...

Nice song, stirring lyrics, great thing to do, fantastic that Kennedy & Hatch were able to put their differences aside, TREMENDOUS examples--both of them. The only thing I can't understand here, is why on earth anyone would arrange for a guy who sounds like he's got half a pound of raw bacon stuck in his throat, to try to sing it! Who is this guy, the Marlboro Man? Joe Cocker's voice is like buttered silk compared to this guy's!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I thought of a few extra lines to the song..
in the darkness he swam to shore and in the darkness mary jo would breath no more...
in the darkness he saw a distant light but in the darkness he decided against whats right..
we will never know ..if he knew about Mary Jo..
but we can say for sho... he was one weaselly ho..
oh we should honor him.. like I need a hole in the head.. we should honor him but thank God that he's ...ummm

Stop fighting over your pet political parties and get your eyes open people! They don't give a damn about anything but your money and having power over you!

This administration is living like royalty off the backs of the American people and we are stupid enough to think they care for the poor.
How pathetic we've become.
