On January 20, 2010, Senator Patrick Leahy chaired a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing about the failed Christmas Day airliner plot and its lessons for improving the effectiveness of anti-terrorism tools and inter-agency communication. FBI Director Robert Mueller and other homeland security officials testified before the Committee.
Leahy also asked questions about an Inspector General report released Wednesday morning about the FBIs misuse of so-called exigent letters in requesting phone records of Americans.
