True. Piston driven means heat comes out up front. I'm sure he knows that. Just wondering why he didn't adapt his grip. Of course, wouldn't be a problem if he had just stuck with direct gas.

this rifle isn't mine- I occasionally borrow a select fire lower from Falcon Operations Group to test out and run some of my uppers

recoil management is just as,if not more,important on a 7.5" subcompact rifle than it is on a 20" A4 system.

if you're looking USPSA/action/3Gun shooters then this style of grip has been popular among those competition circles since the 80's since it allows for more control over the muzzle which translates to faster target transitions, and faster and more accurate follow up shots. i know Kyle Defoor credits John Shaw for introducing this technique to the NSW guys
