The Universal Carrier T was used by the United States Army and Allied forces durning the Second World War. This was mainly used to transport personnel, equipment and mostly support weapons. The Universal Carrier was so versatile that it could even be use as a platform for machine guns. Because there were 113,000 or so built, this is considered to be the most numerous armored fighting vehicle in history.

  • The carrier is actually called the Universal Carrier T16. The "16" portion of the designation should have been stamped into the identification plate; however, I can't see if it is there in the video. The vehicle is a development of the British Army's Universal Carrier, which is often called the Bren Gun Carrier; the hull was lengthened and a second full suspension unit was added (in place of the original single-wheel unit.)
