@gangstapokemonrapper Alas, with Mello being so forward, seemingly fearless & aggressive, he put himself in the perfect position to be Near's 'offence' pawn...Such a waste; such a brilliant mind, yet he played the 'muscles' in Near's game. :P
And Matt...he was just SO expendable! I feel bad, but at least he didn't care much...

@gangstapokemonrapper They are both equal. Mello is an extremist thinker and takes action quickly to resolve problems. On the other hand, Near was passive and thought in a different way. If you combine these two ways of thinking together you get L's balanced ways.

Mello was actually smarter than Near if you think about it. Without the resources Near had, Mello was still able to figure out that there was an x-kira. He also knew how to solve the Kira case by kidnapping Takada so as to make x-kira reveal the real deathnote, something Near never though of or could have accomplished.
