My Blade 450 3D hovering in the garage. There is a fair bit of ground effect taking place here, and the main blades are using the unstable turbulent air for lift, thus creating the helicopter to bounce around a fair bit. If I was to hover a meter or more off the ground, it would hover with much more stability as the main blades would not reuse the turbulent air.
Ever seen a thrown Blade or what happens when a link pops off? As tempting as it can be flying close to yourself indoors is a bad idea. If you fly long enough you will have a mechanical failure. I've had it happen twice and lost all control of the heli both times. Even a 450 can inflict some serious bodily injury. Hopefully you've advanced to big sky flying by now. It only get's better! I started with a Blade 400 two years ago. I now have 5 helis in my fleet to include an Align 700 Nitro.
