So who's the mandoliln player? And the guitarist/songwriter chick sitting on the floor? And the Banjo/Dobro phenom sitting on the floor? Extra credit for the hard ones . . .
Stew Dodge ( dark hair and black glasses) legendary bookish musician, fiddle and banjo player etc, and Johnnie Ward were, once upon a time, joined with "Barefoot" John Hendrix( of singular fame, and also member of The PH Phactor Jug Band) in "Melodious Funk" (See Maryalice and Essie's photos) Of "Holy Modal Rounders" playing here, are Richard Tyler Piano( I can hear him but I cannot see him) and "Robin" Remaley( (Fiddle) who penned " Euphoria"
"Ramblers and Rounders" every one. I am sure all would agree:) John Domenigoni (sp)"John D." is playing the washtub bass kazoo (and vocals) he and Johnnie Ward(vocals, harmonica etc) Kenny"Turtle" VanDemarr jazz guitar, kazoo and vocals.( "Freak Mountain Ramblers" "Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks" and many others) Billy "Foodstamp" Hultz( our beloved ... See MoreBilly) Washboard and vocals. are the" Fly Bye Nite Jass band".
Hello BVMo, do you have, I hope you do, a copy of Movin' Day by the Holy Modal Rounders?? I really wanted to post it for my friends, on this my moving day, at fb.... Think you might put it here?? I'd be thrilled, for sure!!
Johnny Ward's vocals & harp are a treasure, too... Looks like a "post-Melodious Funk" & pre-"Richard Cranium & the Phoreheads"... & it's just a LowDown groooove! ^..^
Y'all do know that this isn't the Holy Modal Rounders or the Clamtones? Fun and sweet, and many of these people were in the Rounders/Clamtones, but an omelet without eggs ain't an omelet, no matter how many other ingredients you've got in it.
