I was playing through Silent Hill 2 and noticed that during the boss battle between two of the pyramid heads James does refer to them as Pyramid Head if you check them after the boss battle. That's where the name was coined from; not the fans.

You gotta admit, though, I think they just wanted a game to partner with the movie. Something recognizable but of the same storyline as the usual Silent Hill games.

They should just make a silent hill game about pyramid head where you play him going about making cameos everywhere. Write in half assed references to every other character and some low brow psychobabble about trying to be a monster everyone wants and you’ve saved the franchise by sucking the last bits of the fandom dry.

@wbaker82 i know, and i do care. i was just waiting for PH's second appearance to really delve into those references (mainly because i wanted to point out that the knife resemble's alex's knife, while ph's helmet is just a steampunk mess for no reason other than to look cool, which conflicts with the kabar reference)

OK, never played an SH game in life. SH HD collection comes out in March. Worth a buy, or too aged despite the snazzy polished GFX update? Sell me on it!

I actually think one of the more positive things you can say about Silent Hill 4 is that it's the only game in the series with an unstoppable antagonist in Walter that's NOT just a total Pyramid Head ripoff. I can't wait to see what kind of big, spooky, muscular, probably mask-wearing man I'll get to encounter in Downpour!
