Chapter 2:
Alex was unpacking her suitcase and muttering angrily cause she had to share a room with her sisters and they had already put makeup on her once when she was sleeping and didn't want to know what they were plotting to do to her the next time she fell asleep.
"Hey Al!" Nick said poking his head in her doorway.
She was so scared that she threw the clothes she was holding up in the air. They hit the floor and both she and Nick blushed, catching sight of her bras and underwear laying there. Nick looked up at her face and grinned sheepishly.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." he said as Alex scrambled to pick up the clothes before shoving them in a drawer.
"It's okay." She said turning to smile at him "What's up?"
"Nothing really, I kinda wanted to go swimming, you wanna go with me?" Nick asked.
"Oh, I was thinking about busting out the blades and playing some roller hockey..." she said.
"Well why don't we do that later when everyone is around?"
"Good point. Okay. Let me change into my suit and I'll meet you down at the water." Alex said smiling at him.
"Okay." He grinned and walked out of her room. She heard the cabin door slam a few seconds later and she sighed, falling back on her bed.
"This can't be happening." She said to herself.
"What can't?" Gloria asked walking into the room and throwing a shopping bag down on the bed.
"You already went shopping!?" Alex said sitting up.
"Yeah, Joe and I walked into town and I found a cute dress at that one little shop, you know the one."
"Since there are only about 5 stores in this town, yes I know which one you mean." Alex said.
"Anyway, back to the point. What can't be happening?" Glory asked.
"Nothing." Alex said standing up and grabbing her green bikini and a pair of gray soffe shorts before going to the bathroom to change.
Nick was sitting on the tiny stretch of beach, waiting for Alex, when Joe plopped down next to him.
"What's up dude?" Joe asked.
" Just thinking." Nick said staring out over the water.
"Bout what?"
"Nothing." Nick said turning to look as Alex came running down the stairs of her cabin and over to where they were.
"Hey Joe!" Alex said.
"Hey yo!" Joe replied.
"Are you coming swimming with us too?" Alex asked looking at him as the boys stood up.
"Uhh no. Why the heck would I wanna do that?" he said as Alex pulled off her gray shorts.
"Cause you love me?" Alex said questioningly.
"Sure sure." Joe said rolling his eyes.
Nick pulled off his shirt and Alex stared for a bit before catching herself and looking back at Joe.
"Well go be boring then." Alex said.
"At least I'm not height challenged. " Joe said before walking away.
"What an ass..." Alex said laughing, turning to look at Nick. "Come on! Last one to the floating dock is a weenie!"
She and Nick both ran into the water, diving under once it was deep enough. Alex was winning so Nick grabbed her leg, pulling her backwards and they both surfaced and began shoving each other and splashing as they still tried to swim out to the floating dock.
"Looks like you're the weenie." Nick said once he had climbed up the small ladder onto the dock.
"And you're the cheater!" Alex said pushing him off the dock. He grabbed her arm as he fell, dragging her in with him.
She came up spluttering, "Well that backfired."
Nick just laughed and they both climbed back onto the square dock, laying on their backs and staring up at the Canadian sky.
"So what have you been up to?" Alex asked, turning her face to look at Nick. He turned his head too and grinned at her before responding.
"Nothing much. I play baseball at school so I've been working out and running a lot."
'I noticed.' Alex muttered under her breath.
"What?" Nick asked.
"I said that's cool!" she stuttered.
"Yeah, and I gotta go to band camp once we get home. I'm on the drumline."
"Really? When did you start playing drums?" Alex asked sitting up and pulling her legs into her chest, wrapping her arms around them.
"About 4 years ago." Nick replied, leaning upon his elbows. Alex caught herself glancing at his abs again and mentally kicked herself.
"Cool. I started playing guitar about 3 years ago." Alex replied.
"Awesome! I play a little bit cause Kevin taught me, but I'd love to learn more."
"Well I could teach you some for the next couple weeks if you want. My acoustic is in the cabin." She said looking into his brown eyes.
"That'd be cool." Nick said smiling at her.
"Nick! Alex! It's time for dinner come on!" Victoria yelled from the shore.
"Race you back?" Nick asked raising his eyebrow at Alex.
"Only if you don't cheat!" Alex yelled standing up and diving in before Nick could even jump to his feet.
