This is a video of the deHavilland beaver plane crash at Lake Hood in Anchorage AK, on June 7, 2009. My father and I were videotaping planes at Lake Hood taking off and landing when the wind kicked up and sent the Beaver taking off right at us.
The wing was less than 5 feet over our heads, and the radial engine was less than 8 feet to my left. No exaggeration!! The Slow motion at the end gives a little better look at how close it was. Everyone onboard was in pristine condition, 2 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs
For those wondering what camcorder I use it is a Canon VIXIA HF20

What caused the accident? Incorrect flaps setting? Insufficient thrust? Or did the pilot slow down the aircraft too much by pulling back on the stick too much?

@eimb1999 Mr. Koehler reissued this video this past September, hence the low numbers; his original version of this video was up for at least two years and generated hundreds of thousands of views and was also featured on truTV's "World's Dumbest..." and "Top 20 most Shocking..." shows. Bet you never thought your video would go viral as it did! Again, congratulations: not only for the success but also for surviving...as well as congratulations to the family and their 2 dogs inside the plane. They walked away, that's what counts.
