Because it has a right to exist, as any other country does.
Many aspects of how Israel came into being are wicked, but it's here now. The question shouldn't be about whether it has a right to exist or not. The question should be, how do we make things right for the Palestinians of Gaza and the West Bank, for the people who were born in modern-day Israel, and in particular, the Palestinian refugees.
Forget about Israel, think about the Palestinians. That might produce some results.

i dont get how in a war situation it's ok. to me you're still killing. and this man calls himself a reverend. he keeps saying 'israel has a right to exist' but gives no real reason why.

palestine was the home of the jews for millenia..the name palestine used to be named phillistine and was a jewish settlement when the romans invaded in ad44 - the muslims had conqoured the lands in 1453 and massacred many jews who had to flee into the balkans and eastern europe. It was around the same time that the 2nd jihad tried to conqour constantinople and meet up with the moors in southern spain to invade europe but were beaten back in the 4th crusade at the gates of vienna.
