Mr. Yap Swee Seng, Executive Director of Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA) and Ms. Pimsiri Petchnamrob, human rights researcher at People's Empowerment Foundation read out a memorandum urging the Malaysian government to allow the Bersih rally and abolish the Emergency Ordinance. The letter also called for the release of 6 Malaysian activists from the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) who are detained under the Emergency Ordinance since 2 July 2011.
