Tim Brick, Chairman of the Board of the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) delivered this statement on June 16, 2010 to MWD's Blue Ribbon Committee on the topic of MWD and the water industry's role in technology and economic development. It contains an analysis of the critical research and technology needs of the water industry and the energy/water nexus. MWD is the large regional cooperative of cities and water agencies that serves 19 million residents of Southern California.

  • The relationship between water and the economy takes the form of a water grab for the Northern California Delta. Never mind cleaning up their own aquifers, they always figure they can get it from Northern California--it's so easy--so why expend funds on cleaning up aquifers.

    The MWD is behind the new water grab that's taking place in the Delta right now.

    SHAME!!
