Fords Immersive Virtual Environment (iVE) lab, a state-of-the-art facility, uses sophisticated virtual reality technology to enable designers and engineers to fully experience a vehicle before it is ever built. The Human Occupant Package Simulator lab, or HOPS, is a one-quarter replica of a vehicle coupled with a motion-capture software system designed to measure and evaluate body movements. The motion-capture software used in the lab is the same type as that used in such popular motion pictures as Avatar, Lord of the Rings, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Polar Express, to name just a few.

  • Man, that is so cool. Ford is now being smart. That's why GM had to borrow so many tax dollars.
