UVIC - Athletes and organizers are busy with final preparations leading up to the start of the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.
And anti-Olympic activists in Victoria and Vancouver are also busy.
Several groups are planning rallies and marches to highlight poverty and homelessness in B.C.
This Saturday (February 6th) The Victoria Coalition Against Poverty and No2010 Victoria plan to serve the Vancouver Olympic Committee (VANOC) with a 'people's eviction notice' followed by a march ending at Centennial Square.
A coalition dubbed the 'Vancouver Olympic Welcoming Committee' says it will mount a rally and march coinciding with the opening ceremonies next Friday (February 12th) and will throw up a tent city.
The group is promising the demonstrations will be peaceful as long as police don't provoke violence.
