  • I love the music of Glenn Miller and the Glenn Miller orchestra; however, when it comes to a rhythm and a solid beat, it is hard to beat Les Elgart and his orchestra.

  • woe-ee wow-ee that is an aMAZing version of this tune - thanks for posting!

  • @TheMadSyrupMaker The band with THAT sound! Instantly recognizable by the thick lushness of it's trombone-heavy orchestrations & beautiful chord progressions, especially those finales! The Elgarts are just one of 500 artists playlisted as my channel's tribute to a century of music. If you stand on one leg while patting your head & your tummy at the same time, utube will let me display my playlist link! chuck

  • Les Elgart, and brother Larry, NEVER disappointed. They knew how to make people dance...

  • I will never tire of Moonglow, and I will never tire of Les Elgart and his orch. It takes me back to the days when I was a mere slip, my only worry was when I would get back to the record store......... I was a record rack haunt.

  • @Socratess2007 Big Bands of today cannot equal the bands of yesterday, because these guys were brought up when this type of music was "pop" They had to be fantastic players to get the job, whether a commercial studio or on the road musician, they had to play to feed their families. They never let their horns get cold, and that was what made them great.

  • Big bands ...... please come back !! ;-)) What a great version of "Moonglow" by Les Elgart and His Orchestra ! Thank you for sharing.

  • This is a very creatively swingy version.

  • GOT TO RESUSCITATE THESE WONDERFUL MELODIOUS INSTRUMENTALS..THE KIDS TODAY DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE MISSING

  • @chkjns I'm not sure... but for sure Maynardcat will know. Stereo recordings were being made in the studios prior to '58 but stereo vinyl issues were not available to the public until '58, that I do know. Then for years, vinyl was released in both monaural and stereo because many people couldn't afford to upgrade their cartridges and stylus not to mention adding the second channel amplifier.
