@46spoony someone with a few lessons for us all.

Who the fuck was Bill Hicks?

@macgeek2004 DUMBASS IS YOU, CUZ U DIDN'T UNDERSTAD WHAT I SAID, I SAID THIS IS NOT A GOOD SARCASTIC METPHOR, EVEN FOR GEORGE CARLIN.

@macgeek2004 I think you give Olbermann way too much credit. You're a big fan of his (maybe because he has the same political leanings as you) but he is no Edward R. Murrow. He's also not on the level of Hicks for pointing out "hypocrisy and bullshit." In fact, Keith is a more of a consistent dispenser of both more than a shinning example of what journalism should be.
You might be one of those who guards Keith's wiki page all day, but he's hardly an impartial beacon of truth.

@macgeek2004 Which surely means there IS a God!

@ccrosbie33 You know, the same reason that got him to start doing his special comments.
And I don't get it, why do you people always think that Olbermann is "playing the political game?" I mean, seriously, as far as TV newscasters go, there hasn't been ONE SINGLE PERSON to ever credibly criticize President Obama *MORE* THAN HE HAS! I mean, seriously, Olbermann is EXACTLY as political as Bill Hicks himself was! They aren't PARTISAN -- they're anti-bullshit! So where do you get that idea from???
-
@ccrosbie33 I disagree. He's FAR better in his later, more Hicks-ian role of pointing out hypocrisy and bullshit and being a shining "Edward R. Murrow"-esque role-model for what journalism is SUPPOSED to be, AND even using comedy to do it when necessary, than he was just announcing sports scores and making fun of them.I mean, he's even said that he would like to go back to that, but things are just so fucked up in this country now that what he's doing now he feels it's his duty as a journalist.

@macgeek2004 Just an FYI, for those who don't know. It was a better tribute, too. 6 minutes long, mostly about how his political message has been timeless and still rings even more relevant and true than even when he was still alive. Also played the whole mind-blowing "it's a ride speech." You can find it on countdownlibrary (dot) com. It's the number 1 segment of the December 16th, 2011 edition of the show.

Bill loved irony, he made a living pointing it out every where he could... when things were just coming together for him he was told he was dying soon... and even after death people in the very mass media he so despised were saying what a great comedian Bill was. The same media that refused to give him a fair shake without trying to water him down. Fuck CBS/NBC/FOX you slime, scum... suckers of satan's cock.
