Great tune, from a band that had some happening hits while I was in high school on the southside of Chicago, that area that spawned so many great bands. Don't forget EW&F, Ramsey Lewis, Curtis Mayfield, & tons more great blues, rock, & R&B artists/bands, were all from our side of town!

Hey Kids here is a reminder these guys were HUGE from 67 through 69.and they put Mercy Mercy Me on the map.
Their producer moved on to Chicage Transit Authority but this is the band that got it all going in Chi Town. They never made it in the UK and never really had the song writing talent to set them apart but they were a great group of Italian american kids that put their Beatles influences and James brown groove to work. Under rated and un heralded. but good.

Yep .. I remember them being played on pirate radio in the UK in 1967..
They were a typical young American band of the time.. talented, but quite a different genre from what was cool in the UK in the mid 60s.

I lived in the Chicago area for 18 years and the big 2 AM stations certainly gave area bands lots of airplay. WLS & WCFL played these guys, The New Colony Six, The Cryan' Shames, The Shadows Of Night and others. Of COURSE there's Chicago but even though CTA came out in '69, they didn't really make a big impact until '70 If you're talking bands with the most airplay and hits nationwide, the Bucks are IT from Chicago. Don't forget The American Breed (which transformed in Rufus). ALL GREAT!!!

I didn't know that the American Breed became Rufus.. ta for this info.
The Breed weren't that popular here in the UK at that time, but people like myself who kept up with the music scene in the US knew of them.
